Greymouth Motorcycle Street Race
The Greymouth Motorcycle Street Race is returning for its 35th year on Labour Weekend. Over 100 riders will compete in 10 classes, showcasing a variety of motorcycles. The event features unique attractions like Westland Kart Club demonstrations and Super Motard off-road sections, adding to the excitement.
Wildfoods Festival
If you have a passion for food and a taste for life, you cannot miss out on the yearly Wildfoods Festival in Hokitika. Not only will you have the opportunity to sample a diverse range of local gourmet specialities, but you’ll also get to listen to live music and enjoy a range of entertainment.

Coast to Coast
If you have an interest in multisports, you should definitely try to get involved with Kathmandu’s annual Coast to Coast event. It begins on the West Coast and ends on the East Coast, with participants having to run, cycle, and kayak along the way. It usually takes entrants between one and two days to make this challenging yet rewarding journey.
Destination Wetland South Island Ultra Marathon
The South Island Ultra Marathons offer a stunning opportunity to explore NZ’s West Coast. With four events ranging from 6km to 100km, there’s a challenge for all levels. Runners will traverse diverse terrain, including mountains, forests and beaches, experiencing the region’s natural beauty. The series culminates in a finish on Hokitika’s beachfront.
Kumara Race
Hosted by the Kumara Racing Club, this is a horse racing event that you don’t want to miss. The main event is the Kumara Gold Nuggets, where the winner receives a real gold nugget as a prize. The event is also so much more than racing, as it provides an exciting day out for the whole family to enjoy.
When attending the Kumara Races, you can expect barbeques, kids activities, fashion shows, live music, and delicious local produce.
Ride The Wilderness
Ride the Wilderness is a mountain bike event on the West Coast Wilderness Trail. Riders will experience the region’s stunning scenery while tackling various terrains, including lakes, rivers, boardwalks and single tracks. The event offers four distances, from 21km to 126km, catering to riders of all levels.
Around Brunner Cycle Ride
The Around Brunner bike ride is a yearly event held on the shores of Lake Brunner. Participants embark on a 130km circuit showcasing stunning scenery, including lush rainforests and breathtaking mountain views. With options for individuals, teams of two and an enduro challenge, the event caters to cyclists of all levels.
